Purple Mountains Debut with 1st Single: "All My Happiness Is Gone"

Support from:
WXPN, KEXP, KXT, WDET, KRCL, WWCD, WUNC, WRXL, WPYA

David Berman has come in from the cold – ten years after he retired Silver Jews from the music scene and himself from all music-making, he is back, with the same eloquent brand of all-American despair that made Silver Jews such an indie rock/alt country sensation in the aughts and '90s.

With musical support from members of Woods, Purple Mountains debut album rises above David's classic catalog. The debut track, "All My Happiness Is Gone" blasts the listeners with a surging tempo and crying mellotron strings as David sings a mid-life blues so existential, no hearts will be left unbroken, no tears left unshed.

Purple Mountains drops in full on July 12th. "All My Happiness is Gone" is set for airplay immediately, and features no FCC violations of any kind.

"Don’t let the breezy arrangement or singalong "I Melt With You" chorus fool you….there’s little here that would sound out of place in an old country standard. It's like he never left." – Pitchfork

"One of the indisputable bright spots of 2019" – Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

"praise the Lord, David Berman is back, this time in the guise of Purple Mountains, and he’s lost none of his lyrical wonder in the time that’s elapsed…all our happiness is back." – Americana UK

"It’s a bit of an emotional apocalypse, which is kinda maybe what you want from a sad song, but the sadness seems so sincere, the despair so visceral, that again, it hurts. Maybe share it with a friend." – Biblioklept
