"Gorgeous, timeless, borderless music." – Rolling Stone

"A vow of compassionate devotion" – The New York Times

"A lonesome, bittersweet, annihilatingly beautiful song" – Stereogum

Joan Shelley (Louisville, Kentucky) will release her new album Like The River Loves The Sea on August 30th. "Coming Down For You" is a rhythmic, finger-picked raga. A direful love song for an uncertain time: “And if with scorched lungs you call to me … Up the canyons and the valleys / I will call back to you.”

Shelley’s self-titled 2017 record was produced by Jeff Tweedy at The Loft in Chicago and placed on year-end lists at NPR Music, Aquarium Drunkard and The New York Times. She was featured on the cover of both Acoustic Guitar Magazine and Fretboard Journal. Shelley toured the world behind the album, supporting Richard Thompson, Wilco, Andrew Bird and Patty Griffin, and performed at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN and Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series in New York.
