The fact that EmiSunshine is fifteen years old is not the most amazing thing about Family Wars. The most amazing thing is the truth telling she packs into every song.
An abused woman’s revenge. Dysfunctional families. Freedom in America. Lost love.
EmiSunshine and The Rain cover a wide range of subjects on their new album FAMILY WARS, produced by 4-time Grammy-winner Tony Brown. The songs tell tales of trouble, as seen through a young woman’s eyes, while offering hope if people can learn to respect others with whom they disagree.
“I’m just voicing my opinion about what I see going on in the world, but hopefully in a way that won’t offend,” Emi says. “I’m looking at problems and trying to make something beautiful out of them.”
Rolling Stone named EmiSunshine among “10 new country artists you need to know,” but she is more than Country; her music also encompasses Americana with hints of Bluegrass, Blues and Gospel. Known for her powerful voice, precocious songwriting and masterful ukulele playing, this 15-year-old prodigy she has been attracting national attention since age 9, appearing on “The Today Show,” NBC’s “Little Big Shots,” the Grand Ole Opry and more. In 2017, she was featured in the Grammy-nominated Elvis Presley documentary “The King,” for which she wrote and performed two original songs.
