Nick de la Hoyde – Mirror, Mirror
Australian singer songwriter Nick de la Hoyde today releases his highly emotive single, ‘Mirror, Mirror’.
Sydney’s independent Australian recording artist, Nick de la Hoyde has returned to Australia to release his new single, ‘Mirror, Mirror’
Nick recently smashed his debut performance at one of America’s largest hip hop festivals, Rolling Loud where he shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music such as; J Cole, Travis Scott, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Migos, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, 21 Savage and Rick Ross to name a few.
Being on an international stage, Nick has described the experience as like no other and has said "It was such a crazy experience for me and I feel truly honoured to be on the same line up with acts such as Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Skies and many more."
Now back from Miami, Nick has his focus set on releasing his deeply emotional ballad, ‘Mirror, Mirror’. The single explores feeling lost, like an outsider, discussing insecurities and the challenge to push past them. "On the track I share my own insecurities too, so others can see that they’re not alone," Nick says. "The song is very personal and came directly from my heart – there’s no filter on any of it."
When Nick finished writing ‘Mirror, Mirror’, he reached out to his friends and fans to share their personal stories, phobias and fears. What came next, Nick describes as overwhelming. An array of clips from adults and children, detailing their struggles. The result is a powerful video, reflecting the message behind ‘Mirror, Mirror’.
A united voice acknowledging inner struggles and an understanding that beauty resides on the inside and not simply what looks back at us in the mirror.
The video has attracted over 45,000 views on YouTube and over 145,000 streams on Spotify so far.
With over 428,000 followers on Instagram alone, Nick is a powerful voice for his generation and has collaborated with Australian Suicide Prevention Charity R U OK? who named him ‘a conversation hero’.
Nick talks about dealing with his own personal struggles. "To be loved, to fit in, to be accepted for who we are and to feel comfortable in our own skin is something we all want. No one is perfect and that’s OK….our quirks and differences make us our own unique selves. Talking about these fears and insecurities with a trusted friend or family member can help us overcome them" Nick says.
Since the release of his last single ‘Hold Me Close’, Nick has performed around LA and Miami showcasing his music.
With an impressive 100K monthly listeners on Spotify, having an honorable mention at the International Songwriting Contest (ISC) 2017, being nominated in the Pop Song category at the 16th Independent Music Awards (IMA) and being a finalist in the Auspop Award 2017 Independent Artist of the Year, Nick is solidifying himself in the Australian and Global market as an Independent Artist to watch.
‘Mirror, Mirror’ will be released to Australian radio on Friday, June 8, 2018 and an intimate showcase will take place to celebrate the launch of the single and partnership with R U OK? on Thursday, July 6, 2018 in Sydney.
