Jolina Carl’s new studio album "Forward Back Home" incl. the focus track "Valerie".

The album title "Forward Back Home" might be a bit confusing in the first place – forward and backwards at the same time? Well, that’s exactly the case. Jolina Carl takes the next step ‘forward’ with these 12 new songs, as a singer, as a songwriter, as a designer of her music. Her own pieces and the selection of songs by other composers as well as the cover versions or her two duets with Grammy winner Billy Yates and country shooting star Ray Scott, all of that shows her incredible format and reveals her enormous potential. Plus she offers a wide range of styles, which ranks from Bluegrass and funky rhythms to even jazzy parts and surely also to traditional Country Pop. On the other hand she’s turning ‘back home’ and reflects her own world, and she transforms these manifold thoughts and the array of feelings into songs and sounds.

"Forward Back Home" is with no doubt the most personal album of the four ones she had done so far. She tells stories about her late father, she describes her "encounter" with Johnny Cash – she have had a guest appearance on exactly that farm, to which the legend always used to go back for to write songs -, she sings about the experiences on the road, or even reminds the listener to recreate the values, which somehow getting lost slowly but surely in the digital age The three cover songs perfectly fit into this lyrical spectrum: "Get Rhythm" by Johnny Cash in a more rocking version, Amy Winehouse’ "Valerie" in a Bluegrass mood, and "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, which she always feared to record, but now her courage finally to do so is paying back.

The whole album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and has been produced by Thomm Jutz in TJ Tunes studio. The participating musicians all belong to the first class of Nashville session cracks, as for example Mark Fain, Scotty Sanders or Pat Bergeson, who among others played with Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Tommy Emmanuel or Marty Stuart.
