"Redneck Friend"

IMPACTING NOW

Revered guitarist, singer, songwriter and filmmaker Jesse Dayton has announced the August 9th release of Mixtape Volume 1 (Blue Élan Records), a collection of deeper cuts by legendary artists infused with Dayton’s Texas/Louisiana-influenced style. Through his decades-spanning career, Jesse Dayton has become one of the music industry’s best kept secrets and valuable weapons with a sound that blends rock, blues, old school country, punk-rock and zydeco. On Mixtape Volume 1, Dayton offers his own reinterpretations of songs from iconic artists including Neil Young, The Clash, Elton John, ZZ Top and more.

The first single is Jesse's take on Jackson Browne's "Redneck Friend."  Here's what Dayton had to say about the track. "The song was written and originally recorded by Jackson Browne in 1973. I loved this song growing up. Although I grew up in a heavy redneck area of Southeast Texas, I knew Jackson was singing about something smarter and bigger than those obvious redneck clichés.  Hope you dig my South Louisiana Boogie version."

Dayton is heading to Europe in June and July with festival and club dates in the UK, Belgium and Italy, Followed by several months of touring throughout the US.
